Farmers have doubled their production as the plastic plywood movement is sweeping across the nation. Starting in Luton where 2K Manufacturing is based, the new innovative plastic plywood product EcoSheet is due to double in production. The material is made out of 100% recycled plastic plywood and will be increased to 1300 items every week beginning during the first weeks of 2013.
The decision to increase production was made in response to the higher demand that was made from the farming industry which is choosing to use the new EcoSheet plywood to build housing for livestock such as chickens, pigs, and horses. Many major agricultural farmers are also using the EcoSheet alternative including Wynnstay, CPF, Bridgmans, and CFF.
2K Manufacturing representative Peter Ball stated that EcoSheet lasts much longer than a standard sheet of plywood and can be recycled over and over again making it the best choice not only environmentally, but also economically.
The 2K company was first launched five years ago and since then has seen most of its orders come in from the construction and development sector with many companies such as Lovell and Wates choosing to use Ecosheet. However, more and more farmers are now turning to the product due to the fact that it has many different hygiene benefits and can be used for many different applications.
Charlie Hughes, from the Wynnstay Group, stated that farmers are looking for products that offer a long lifetime service to help reduce their costs and when you take a look at EcoSheet and compare it to plywood it is a simple cost effective choice. Hughes added that it also can be washed down and disinfected which wood cannot be.
