At PDM Group’s headquarters in Doncaster the UK based waste management company is constructing a food waste Anaerobic Digestion facility. This will be the first to be built under the partnership ReFood between PDM Group and Saria Bio-Industries the European food-chain recycling specialist and will cost £12 million.

The state of the art depackaging and steel frame reception facility is completed and now in place are the foundations for the biogas storage facility and the concrete digester.

The development is scheduled to accelerate over the course of the approaching weeks says PDM as more kit and cladding is added on which will include the ReFood dome and stainless steel pasteurisation units.

Over 45,000 tonnes of food waste will be recycled each year and there will be more than 2.8 MW of renewable electricity and heat produced at the Doncaster plant. PDM says that the plant is scheduled to be operational this summer and with the final stages of the structure being finished and the plant finalized and ready to be filled with internal equipment and the exciting part is that there are a number of local businesses that are already on board to use the plant.
