As a laptop recycler in the UK we find it hard to believe that laptops are still finding their way to landfill.

It seems mobile phone recycling is becoming the norm and we need this to progress to laptops. There are many companies in the UK (ourselves included) that can pay you cash for your old laptop regardless of it's condition.

You have nothing to lose if you are throwing your laptop away. Why not recycle it, help the environment and make some extra cash in the progress!

Funny, just by judging those laptops by the photo, I can really say that those laptops really need to be recycled.

I think council's should force every householder to use a Kitchen Caddy, sending all this waste to landfill is madness and has to stop.

It can be recycled to a lower grade heating oil also at low enough cost to make it a useful resource.

There is quite a wait for delivery of Eco Sheet but there are plans for further capacity to meet the needs of a greening construction industry.

I am 42 and have a mortgage on my home. My boiler has broken would I be entitled to get any money for my old boiler?

Thanks for highlighting this.

I do however feel your last paragraph is a little misleading.

Quarterly figures for July-September 2010 showed Scotland’s recycling rate hit 40.5% (SEPA). The latest English figure is 40.1% (DEFRA).

Indeed, Scotland has seen a dramatic rise in recycling rates, and is well on track to meet the targets set in the Zero Waste Plan.

As you mention, by 2025 Scotland has promised to achieve a rate of 75% recycling. Far from trying to remain on pace with the other parts of the UK and the European Union, these targets are some of the most ambitious in the world, and the related work (e.g. Carbon Metric) only further emphasise the great work now taking place in Scotland.
