Clean energy plant costing £20m could be located in Shoreham Point

By Alan Leave a Comment

Plans for a clean energy plant which has a value of £20 million have been proposed for a location in Shoreham Point. It is expected that if this is constructive it would be able to power the entire of Shoreham itself, which is about 20,000 people.

The company responsible for the plan and would also be behind the potential construction of the plant is Edgley Green Power. If they are given permission to construct the plants, they would begin immediately, and it is expected that the plant would be up and running, and supplying power to the homes within two years.

The plant would take up one acre of space, next to Shoreham Power station. Another benefit that the power plant would bring to the local area is employment of people, and it is expected that 20 people would be permanently enjoyed at the plant. Also, during the construction phase of the powerplants, over 70 jobs would be created for the local area.

The company believe that this location is particularly good because fuel sources can be brought in through the port which is located very nearby. This will allow electricity to be generated easily, and efficiently, as the fuel won’t need to be carted to the power station by truck.

The power plant is going to work on animal tallow, vegetable oil, and cooking oil, that have all been deemed unfit for consumption. It is worth mentioning that only oil that is unfit for consumption will be used, because some people are under the misconception that these clean energy plants only burn virgin plant oil. This would be incredibly wasteful, not environmentally friendly, and is simply not the case with clean energy plants. This means that food sources are not taken away from elsewhere, and the plant is very environmentally friendly.
