Viridor has released its 2009/2010 corporate responsibility report that shows that it has successful reached many of its environmental goals but at the same time the number of accidents at the company increased.

50,000 new jobs could come from good recycling

According to the organization Friends of the Earth, over 50,000 new jobs would be created if the UK was able to increase the amount of people who regularly recycled.

6000 complaints about new council recycling scheme

The new waste disposal scheme that one council has put in place for the collection of recycling and rubbish bins has caused over 6,000 people to submit a complaint. The problems occurred after the council issued each resident with five separate bins. The system, implemented by Torbay Council in Devon, replaces the old green wheelie bins with a new array of boxes.

Recycle your old boiler and receive up to £400

The Government’s new boiler scrapping scheme has arrived. The scheme was initiated on January 5th, and it set out to aid people in replacing their ineffective boilers all around England. The Energy Saving Trust is running the scheme. According to the ENT, those who have “G” rated boilers with less than 70% efficiency can be eligible for up to £400 through the scheme.
